ELECTROSTATICS
As we mentioned in our previous newsletter, a new version of the ANSI/ESD S20.20 was published in February. A paper about the most important changes can be found here :
Also the IEC 61340-5-1 and 61340-5-2 will change. The members of the IEC/TC 101 will meet each other this month in Japan to discuss these changes. Notable is a new attempt of an IEC 61340-4-2 that is complete different than the previous try. Also this document will be discussed during the meeting in Japan. You’ll get more information in our next newsletter.
ElectroStat wants to warn their customers for some certification bureaus! We found out that several certification and inspection bureaus are claiming to approve materials (e.g. floorings) to the IEC 61340-5-1, saying that they are using the IEC 61340-4-1. However, they are using different standards, measuring methods, measuring times, electrodes and weights. We are working on a paper regarding these issues. Until then, if you have any questions, you can just e-mail us. Dutch speaking customers can also ask for the presentation we made about ESD floorings.
QUALITY
Last month General Motors published their new customer specific requirements to be used with ISO/TS 16949. This document can be downloaded here :
In May ElectroStat gave a training about internal communication together with Comatech. It was not only the first time Comatech and ElectroStat joint forces, but it was also the first time we used magic to support the training process. The reactions of the participants were so positive that we already decided to give this training again in February 2008.
